County Broadband
As always cities and towns get the goodies and country areas are ignored despite subsidising the cities with their higher per capita spending.
BT, or Bloody Terrible, which is what I think the initials mean, behaves irrationally and is absurdly expensive. Essentially they wish the countryside didn't exist so they give ridiculous prices. Here follows a real example, mine in fact. Half of my village has been connected by BT to fibre. The last post is 350 m from my house. To complete that short distance BT has estimated about £70 000. Yes the number is correct. Of that we would have to pay over £40 000. If it wasn't so absurd it would be laughable. The local MP took up the matter and got what I call a foxtrot oscar reply from BT. Exactly what I expected.
A private company - County Broadband (CBB) -
has been subsidised to provide fibre to the premises here. There have
been some doubts expressed publicly about its past selling techniques
but it seems to have changed its ways. I have decided to sign up for
the project. The worst that can happen is that I get lumbered with
paying for two years of the cheapest service. I will run it alongside
my 4G service until I am convinced it works OK. I will report progress
here. In the end it was all a dismal failure. CBB failed to deliver as
they promised. Now let me think. Am I surprised.
You might find that they can help you but I am not sure why I am suggesting them after how they have reneged on their promises to me. Look at: http://www.countybroadband.co.uk/
